It was Tuesday, July 5, when there was a sense of déjà vu. This occurred before the Mont-de-Marsan Court. The defendants were OJB Parachutisme, and Olivier Jean-Baptiste, its manager. This is not a case of manslaughter as in the March case, but of involuntary injury. It was committed after a leap of 4,500m in April 2019.
Marc Vincent, who made the jump for the first time, was unable to work for more than four months due to shock, and a "exploded" vertebra. The young father recalls that his parachute opened well, but when he looked up, he saw that I wasn't in the landing area and that the landing strip was too far away.
Olivier Jean-Baptiste was the manager of the company and guided his student using a headset. He said, "It was windy, but not so windy that it changed the drop conditions."
His lawyer asked for his release. The prosecution asked for a six-month suspended sentence, a fine of 4,000 Euros against the manager, and 15,000 Euros including 5,000 suspending for the company.
The matter has been rescheduled for September 20.
