Many social media messages report homophobic, racist, and sexist insults directed at the pilots and fans around the Red Bull Ring. This is the property of Austria's energy drink giant.
Formula One released a statement Sunday morning stating that it was aware of "some fans' completely unacceptable comments" from other fans since Friday's first practice.

"We spoke to the local promoter and security services about it. We will talk to the people who reported these incidents. This behavior is unacceptable and will not tolerated. Formula One emphasizes that all fans must be treated with respect.
Nearly 50,000 Dutch fans came in orange to support Max Verstappen, the world champion, every year. When the Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell (britons) came off the track during qualifying, some booed and whistled them.
Hamilton, seven-time world champion, is very committed to fighting racism. He also criticised the behavior of Toto Wolff (the boss of Mercedes), who booed Verstappen 15 days ago on the Silverstone circuit during the British GP.
Wolff stated Saturday that "it's not very sporty." He said, "When fans cheer on a driver who has an accident," and that it was a question of whether they understand the sport and are aware of their attitudes.
