The Dordogne has seen a new dry and hot period after the storms. It could last until mid-July according to the forecast. Many rivers are falling and some have reached alarming levels. The prefect extended the restrictions on irrigation withdrawals, effective Friday, July 8, with an order in effect.
The four rivers the Ceou upstream and Tournefeuille are in crisis, as is the Seignal, Conne, Tournefeuille, Seignal, and Tournefeuille. There is a complete ban on water consumption. Eight people are on high alert with a ban of water consumption for 3.5 days per week. La Belle, la Couze/Couzeau and la Germaine/Lizabel all on alert. Samples are prohibited for two days.
The operation of the valves as well as that of the empellements are controlled on the rivers from July 5 through October 31. The Propluvia website, the site for the prefecture, and the relevant town halls provide details about the measures.
