Oloron is new to the market for summer shopping

You can't miss them among the stalls full of seasonal fruits and veggies. They are wearing navy blue t-shirts with the City logo at the heart and a shoulder patch.

They are dynamic, young and full of goodwill. They will be on the streets all summer helping you to transport the largest shopping bags.

These young people, aged between 11 and 21, will be posted at every staircase in Place Georges Clemenceau. They will be available at the market starting at 8:30 a.m. Facilitate shopping for those who have difficulties bringing their purchases to the car. This partnership initiative with the town hall seems like a win-win situation.

Sabrina Pucheux (one of the four educators at the oloronaise association) says, "This action also permits these children placed or subjected to a measure social assistance for children(ASE), who have difficulties with social integration to create a bond. They are encouraged to face each other and to exchange ideas in an intergenerational spirit.

After a successful first year, the agreement between the city and the association was renewed. Regulars at the market appreciated that the brave teenagers were valued. This initiative highlights the work done by the association. It receives 350 euros in grants in exchange for financing several projects it undertakes with the young people.

The educator continues, "Oloron prevention" is an association that works all year with young people who have been socially marginalized. We do street work to reach them and offer them the opportunity to join our collective or individual projects. They are not required to take part in any of the projects or participate because everything is free.

A free shuttle bus will also be available to take you around the city. The shuttle will run round trips between the station (entrance to Place de la Resistance) and the Maison de la Presse (endpoint to the market). This solution will address parking problems during congested Fridays in the town. This measure will continue until August 26.

Mayor Bernard Uthurry presented the summer device at the market. He also revealed another new innovation: an elevator that will be located at the Ketty Lapeyrette Passage, linking the market to the multimedia library of Gave.

The city councilor assured that "this lift will allow everyone, especially those with reduced mobility, to walk serenely through the steep city centre of Oloron". He did not question the assistance provided by young people as they were "essential". "With this lift the partnership with Oloron will not end!"
