According to the Ministry of Health figures, the number of tests "again exceeded" three million in one week. This was despite the seventh wave of Covid-19.
The statistics department (Drees), which validated more than 3,000,000 PCR and antigen test results between June 27th and July 3, compared to just over 2.1million the week before, observed in a press release that there was "a sharp rise".
The number of tests fell to just over one million at May's end, but has been steadily increasing each week since. The number of tests for all age groups is increasing (41%), but it is higher among 16-25-year-olds (58%).
The strong rebound in the outbreak at the beginning of summer was fueled by Omicron sub-variants. This resulted in an increase in test results. Public Health France recorded more than 154,600 cases Wednesday evening, which is 45% more than one week ago and the highest number since April.
