What's the point of it? Thermal shock is a temperature change that causes a thermal shock. It can happen during hydrocution, for instance. It can also occur outside of water. A heat wave can cause a thermal shock. Temperatures that go from 40°C outside to 20°C inside can result in a loss of consciousness, or even cardiac arrest.
A temperature difference greater than 5 to 7 degrees Celsius with the outside temperature will expose you to thermal shock. If it's 40 degrees outside, you should not allow your accommodation to drop below 33 degrees Celsius. You will feel fresh and vibrant.
We have no control over the temperature in public areas. It is not a custom in France, however, to make the air conditioner too cold, as it is not done in other countries like the United States. It is important to dial 15 if you feel uncomfortable in an air-conditioned area.
Swimming is not "dry drowning".
