Residents of the Yser course were shocked to find posters on their doors this morning warning them of a mosquito control operation on Monday, July 11. The neighborhood will be treated again preventively one month after the initial intervention.

A person suffering from Zika, Chikungunya, dengue fever or chikungunya would have been in the area last month. Gironde is home to tiger mosquitoes that transmit diseases. The posters explain that this operation is intended to "prevent a chain of local transmission" of these diseases.

The intervention will begin at 10 p.m. and last for approximately one hour. The streets will be spray with natural and pyrethroid pyrethrins or pyrethroid products used in household insect repellents. There are still some precautions that must be taken according to the ARS. These include closing windows facing the public roads, bringing laundry and objects inside, and rinsing any garden furniture.
