Montauban Court sentenced the septuagenarian to a suspended fine for smashing an egg on Eric Zemmour's head in March during the presidential campaign.
Eric Zemmour was on his way to Moissac, Tarn-et-Garonne, when a 71-year-old farmer crushed an egg on his head. He was then overpowered by security personnel. The gendarmes then took them away.
According to the Montauban prosecution, the father of an autistic child had justified his actions by opposing "the controversial positions taken on the subject by Mr. Zemmour", the Montauban prosecution said at the time.
This Castelsarrasin man, who was absent from Friday's Montauban hearing, received a 500 euro suspended fine. During the May trial, the public prosecutor requested a 150 euro fine and a citizenship class.
In April, Tarn-et-Garonnais also threw eggs on a campaign bus of Marine Le Pen (candidate for the National Rally) that was passing through the district. However, the incident was not investigated.
